How Do I know If Coaching is Right For Me?

If you’re attempting to or simply interested in performing better or achieving more in your professional career or personal life, but you aren’t making progress or reaching your goals, then you’re a perfect candidate for coaching.  But, perhaps a better answer to this question is a desire within you to learn new things about yourself, your abilities/talents, and a willingness to change certain behaviors in order to become a better person and/or a better leader.

Introduction and Orientation

Data-gathering phase.  The coach meets with the client to discuss the overall purpose or goal of the coaching.

Written Agreement/Contract

The coach drafts an agreement.  Each agreement is custom-tailored and unique to address the needs of the client.

Assessment

Coach determines the magnitude of the gap between the current and desired level of performance and the client’s overall pattern of strengths and weaknesses.

Feedback and Action Plan

Involves the coach reviewing all relevant data with the client and partnering to develop an action plan(s).

Coaching

Meetings between coach and client, typically occur 2 times per month over the course of 6 months, depending on the nature of the request.  

Closure and Evaluation

Coach and client meet to evaluate developmental accomplishments based on agreed upon goals and objectives.  Determine next steps or desire for more coaching.

The best coaching plan for you is exactly what you feel comfortable with and what you are willing to commit yourself to…no more, no less.  The most important thing is to commit to self improvement.   We’ll work with you to custom-tailor the best plan given your specific requirements, circumstances or needs.  

Reach Your Goals

Drive, determination, and hard work are always top-of-mind when pursuing goals or objectives. However, successfully reaching your goal(s) is not about simply working harder or  working smarter.  It’s really about helping you clearly identify what truly motivates you…supporting and guiding you in your efforts to discover your “why” for overcoming a barrier or achieving a desired outcome; enabling you to consistently meet or exceed expectations. 

Sample Coaching Plan

Coaching focused on helping you discover a new way of being.  At a minimum, help you eliminate barriers, create breakthroughs, effectively apply critical thinking and strategic communication in order to consistently meet or exceed your individual, team, and organizational performance goals/objectives.  Help you develop new leadership competencies, broader appreciation for others, and gaining new insight regarding intrinsic and extrinsic values, as well as an understanding of long-held beliefs and the impact they have on your decision making. Your plan may also include a formal leadership assessment and interpretation (e.g., Enneagram, DISC), a comprehensive initial planning session (1 hour), scheduled coaching sessions (1 hour each), and a wrap-up call (1 hour) to review findings or awakenings, discuss on-going challenges, exchange feedback, address future needs, and help you develop a strategy for obtaining enduring success.
